Frequently Asked Questions
1. When should I involve an electrician in my new build?
Ideally, during the architectural design stage. This allows us to plan the most efficient cable routes, integrate smart home technologies, and ensure all lighting and socket placements align perfectly with your interior layout.
2. What is the difference between "first fix" and "second fix" electrical?
“First fix” involves running all the hidden cables through the walls, floors, and ceilings before plastering. “Second fix” happens after plastering and painting, where we install the actual faceplates, light fittings, and connect the fuseboard.
3. Can you pre-wire my home for future solar panels or an EV charger?
Yes! This is highly recommended. Running the heavy-duty cables for future Solar PV, battery storage, or EV chargers during the build phase is incredibly cheap and easy compared to retrofitting them later.
4. Do you coordinate with other tradesmen on-site?
Absolutely. We routinely work alongside main contractors, plumbers, and plasterers to ensure our electrical work seamlessly integrates with their timelines and keeps the project moving smoothly.
5. Will my new extension need its own separate fuseboard?
It depends on the size and power demand of the extension (especially if you are adding high-draw appliances like a new kitchen or electric showers). We will assess if a “sub-board” is needed or if your main consumer unit can handle the upgrade safely.
